Made Clean

5.19.2019 Rev. Khalif Smith

I have felt like the “unclean,” the unaccepted or uncool, feeling on the outside so many more times in my life than I have identified with the “clean,” accepted, in-crowd cool ones. Many of us have experienced some form of oppression, some more extreme than others. I have a feeling I am not alone. Whether or not it is an accurate depiction of who we were or are, we can refer to the verses in Acts 11:1-8 where Peter explained the vision that helps us to understand that when God has declared us clean, any one of us, no matter what we have done or who others think we are, “what God has made clean, you must not consider unclean (Acts 11:9).” Whether it is how we think of ourselves, or how we look at other people, let us remember these words.
